HSR Sebring

Wow, what a shame... A great weekend of racing hampered by rain. Did it rain, for 2 days I would normally have some cool racing pics or at least car pics but we stayed where it was dry.

That puddle was about 4 inches deep... could have almost had boat races.
My veiw most of the weekend. wet, wetter, Wettest,

When the rain stopped the got a night race in which was cool to watch
And of course, Sunday was beautiful.
Life is good... even when it rains.

Argo JM 19C

This is a picture I found on the Internet so it's not the clients car but it gives an idea of what it looks like for the folks that haven't seen one before

If you are fortunate enough to own an Argo JM 19C or even to be able to work on one, this could be helpful. A client of ours is rebuilding one and figured out all the rod ends and spherical bearings needed to do the job. We sell Aurora so all the part numbers are our Aurora part numbers...

2 required of the AUR HXAM 7T
2 required of the AUR HXAB 5T

SCCA Runoffs

My first trip to the SCCA runoffs at Road America Started off with torrential rains but once that cleared away it was an awesome week. This was my second trip out to Road America with the Truechoice Motorsports Support Trailer. The trailer actually makes it out there twice a year for the HSR & SVRA events but this was our first trip to the Runoffs. All I can say is WOW... this is grassroots racing at its finest. I love events with diversity and this had plenty of that. It is always nice to see the little guy racing against the factory supported guys. It was amazing with everybody crying about the economy that there were 600 plus cars in attendance. I usually end up taking a couple hundred pictures at each event so I decided to post the ones I thought were cool. Nice thing about Road America is that it is fan friendly and it isn't hard to find a good place to watch the action from.
There were campers and haulers everywhere. ( This picture was taken Saturday afternoon after people started to leave) but it was jam packed all week
I got a chance to wander down to the winners circle for a few races. You have to love the cars.
Top 5 head over to tech after the race.
I liked this spot to view the action from.
Anytime there is racing there is carnage.
Great weather for the actual races
A great spot to watch from our trailer was close to this area
Come out of the turn and up the hill.
Good cornering action.
This was one of the coolest cars I came across... Looks like a beater.
But has a pretty big inter-cooler, who would think?
Some of the manufactures set up support areas for their marques
Speaking of factory support ... look at the set up these folks had
They had some real estate roped off
What a rig for 1 car
A rig, a duellie, a trailer, a motor coach, and 1/2 a dozen golf carts.

Nice car
only 1 car though
Everybody is claiming territory. This did not seam to have any of the features of an A4 or A6

Crash Video

I just recentally figured out You-tube videos (I know but I really don't have the time for it) so when someone sends me a link, I'm compelled to watch. This was sent to me from the Defnder people (they make a head and neck safety device) showing use of their device.

SCCA Pro Racing Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup driver Devin Cates had a high speed roll at Round 7 of the series in August........he went off big time at the infamous "Canada Corner" and sustained major damage to his car. Thanks to all of the safety equipment he was wearing - including the defNder Head and Neck Restraint - Cates was able to walk away from the crash to fight another day. He rebounded quickly, with a double header opportunity at New Jersey Motorsports Park this past weekend. Cates wasted no time, with a convincing win at Round 9. The win earned Cates a black colored defNder, which all TDI Cup Winners have received this season.

See the video of his Road America crash here:
Cates crash at road america

I hate to see anybody crash but it's always nice to know that they had the proper safety equipment.

Mid-Ohio with the SVRA

This was my first time working an event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The SVRA Hosts an event every year in the latter part of June at Mid-Ohio. This year it was my turn to work this event which worked out really well because I only live about 45 minutes away. We brought the Truechoice Trailer up and a few cars. Michele and Rich from KFP Magnum Pads came to the event to market there pads and do some field research.
My daughter, Jessica, spent the weekend with me at the track showing off her Jr Dragster (I know but it's a long story) which turned out to be one of the more popular cars at the event. We also brought out the freshly restored McLaren to show off. (if you know anybody that needs one, it's for sale)
It looks fast just sitting there. (it would be a blast out on the track)
Of course, I got to have a close-up of Jessica's car (it is way cool) in front of the Intercomp banner. (they are one of her sponsors and Jessica is always willing to promote them)
We had Author Bert B.S. Levy signing books in our display this year. He has had 5 published,
The last open road, Tolley's ghost, Montezuma's Ferrari, The Fabulous Trashwagon, & Potside companion. Jessica helped him out all weekend bagging books and passing out flyer's.
Jessica loves to be in the seat of a race car. ( I can't wait til she wants to drive something that turns, not like her Jr dragster)
And of course, no weekend at Mid-Ohio would be complete without rain.

Columbus Motor Speedway

I made my first trip out to the Columbus Motor Speedway this year on June 6th. (I usually end up out there at least a couple of times a year) It always brings back memories of my younger days when I drove at Mt Clemens Raceway. It was fun even though I didn't get to see much racing because I spent most the evening talking about Head and Neck Devices. I was trying to get the word out about Truechoice caring both the DefNder and the HANS. I love being in the pits the only thing that would make it better would be being able to turn some wrenches. It was a great group of people and a nice facility to race at.

Life is good... imagine having a job that you get to hang out at the race track, how cool.

MITTY at Road Atlanta

One of my favorite races of the year is the Mitty at Road Atlanta. (I get to go to my fair share of races with Truechoice Motorsports) This is the HSR's Big event so it is always fun. People come from across the country to race at it because of it's reputation and of course the challenge of Road Atlanta. The Mitty is as much of a social event as it is a racing event. (the food is always good)
Just a touch of rain and everything is closed up tight
This years featured cars were the Group 44 cars... they had a nice display and the cars were in great shape
I guess they all had some sort of 44 theme plus the matching green paint

It was cool to see racing history on display and parading around
I took this for my daughter because she has a thing for pink race cars
A motorize bar stool with 2 seats and a trailer (In Ohio a Guy just got a DUI on one of these)

Detroit Autorama

Some folks ask me "why?" I think it as about passion or maybe love because it sure don't make sense. Yea... I'm talking about my obsession with cars. I just spent the last 5 days at the Detroit Autorama and logged almost 80 hours. (crazy ah) I can honestly say it didn't feel like it just like when I go to the race track with Truechoice Motorsports. The coolest thing about the Autorama is there is something for everybody. Car people have an interest, love or passion that bypasses most social and economic bounties. It's really not about age, gender, race, social status, political views, religious views, or any of that stuff, it's about the art form known as cars and that is the common ground for all involved.
A Chip Foose Creation
Jess had to have a picture in front of the pink car.

(still her favorite color even though she "grew out" of Disney's Princesses)
Way cool '45 Merc Woody
I love when people change the stock stripes
A super model posing in front of the Mach 5
Very cool Jr Dragster
It's gota Hemi
From the Mad Max movie
Oldie but a goodie
I really don't care for these type of cars but you have to respect the effort and vision of the builder
It is like a '60s flash back
Our friends at Waterford Hills had a nice display
They had some very nice cars in their display
